The Beautiful Bruce

Georgian Bay, ON
After 2 days of vegetarian cooking, I spent the weekend at the cottage with my family. Other than green smoothies for breakfast, the rest of it seemed to go out the window. The dragon was surely disturbed. It’s certainly true that cooked food is one of the cruelest addictions. Here I am, dealing [...]

Applewood

Applewood, Mount Forest
For 2 days, while attending a Celtic Reiki retreat, I included cooked vegetarian food in my diet. I don’t believe it had any real adverse effects, other than awakening the dragon. IF I’m going to eat cheese, it really needs to be raw (unpasteurized) and preferably not from a cow.

Fibromyalgia

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. To some people, a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia would be quite upsetting. I was filled with gratitude. I have had health concerns for some time which I have chosen to discuss privately with a few individuals, but have decided to keep out of a public [...]

A Familial Challenge

I have been challenged that, every time I eat something which I consider ‘bad’ (for me, no judgment on anyone else!), I will be posting it on FaceBook. This will help. I love my family.

I am not infallible

I am not infallible in my pursuits. Over the weekend, I ate:
- a pancake with syrup
- 2 grilled cheese sandwiches
- a veggie bento box (tofu, teriyaki stir fry, tempura veggies), maki rolls
- a couple of cookies
- too many samples (wine and cheese) [*]
[*] – on Sunday when visiting wineries
How did I feel later on Sunday? [...]

Emotional Eating

It’s amazing just how much emotions play into that which we feed into our mouths. I don’t care to swell on my emotions in any deeply methodological way. Suffice to say, I have been experiencing a few challenges as of late. Then again, what is life without these challenges? In the past several weeks, I’m [...]

Tofu Trouble

I have been accosted by my new love affair with tofu. I never used to like tofu to this degree. I was, however, introduced to crispy-frying it (especially coated with nutritional yeast or coconut) and I am smitten. This is not entirely a good thing. Fried foods == not good. Is it the promise of [...]

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I was originally going to make Alissa Cohen’s Noasted Turkey but I seem to have come down with food poisoning. Is this going to be the final nail in the coffin of my binging?
