What happens after a new-age Vancouver-bound vegetarian gal finally starts to detox with a handsome Guelph-based spiritually-minded vegan? Sparks fly, sprouts shoot, and wheatgrass grows!

Sprouts are delicious and nutritious – although I would rate them higher on the nutritious scale than the delicious scale. John and I recently attended a sprouting workshop. It was educational and fun. The two of us were dubbed the “remedial sprouters”. Apparently you are only supposed to use 2 Tbsp of seeds, not an entire bag. And apparently Jar Sprouting is the “easiest” method, and someone we managed to flunk at it by putting too many seeds in the jar. We did, however, manage to produce a very large amount of mung bean sprouts on our own, although I have been scolded repeatedly to wait until they were quite long to eat them. Lucky for me, they actually have a higher nutritional content when they are smaller and therefore I won’t get my hand slapped every time I go near the trays!
The workshop was informative, and the “green juice” and dinner were… nutritious. I wish I could use the word “delicious” here again, but I cannot lie. No matter how hard I try, I find the taste of “green juice” (varied greens, herbs, sprouts) to be less than tasty. I drink it because it’s good for me. The dinner was enjoyable, but I felt like an animal grazing in the pasture and I was left craving something sweet in a terrible way.

Sometimes I feel as though I am something of a fraud because I try to eat healthy, and yet I will honestly say that I do not take pleasure in many of things I consume. What I do take pleasure in is the energetic and happy way that I feel, and the way that my skin is starting to glow. Is this worth chewing cud? Sometimes I have my doubts, but the majority of my neurons scream yes.

Atleast you are honest! I actually enjoy the green taste….maybe I should have been a cow?
Great blog!
As a former wheatgrass grower and juicer I appreciate what you are doing. However, I have found a great way to get my wheatgrass through this company. You may want to look into this for the maximum nutrition and convenience it offers: Please read the following: Cleanse, Alkalize, and Nourish! Get all three by consuming one drink and you can
take it with you when you travel, go to the gym or anywhere for a quick boost! In this highly nutritional, organic powdered product, 4 packets are equivalent to one tray of wheatgrass. Another important thing the packets are used upon opening, not like a jar, which each time it is opened oxidizes and loses its nutritional value. This product is cold dried to maintain its live enzymes and nutrients when combined with water.
This is the only wheatgrass powder in the world grown Aeroponically in 100% purified oxygen; soil free, fungus free and pollution free. The roots contain SOD, cancer fighting agents and 13 amino acids not found in the blades
Another plus, by combining the roots with the blades, the taste is not strong and nauseous as juiced wheatgrass. You can drink this straight (in 8 to 12 ounces of water), add to your morning juice or shake and enjoy! Even kids love it!
